YAMAHA Drum Set

Absolute Series

Absolute Series

Acoustic Drum Systems

With three shell materials, a wide selection of contemporary, universal and retro shell sizes, two lug types, and a choice of over 30 finishes, the Yamaha Absolute Series gives you the freedom to create a totally individual, personalized drum set. The series is regarded by professionals as the finest on the market, and offers unique features that are designed to deliver outstanding performance for years.

Air Seal System
The use of our original Air Seal System is, in part, responsible for the superior quality found in Yamaha drum shells. Select woods are cut into plies, positioned with staggered diagonal seams, and sealed together with evenly distributed air pressure. The resulting shells are perfectly round and of uniform thickness delivering superior tone quality and exceptional durability.

Choice of Maple, Beech or Birch Shell
The series offer a selection of three of the best drum-making woods available: maple, birch and beech. Select wood is cut in plies, positioned with staggered diagonal seams, and sealed together with evenly distributed air pressure. This process ensures that every drum shell is in round and of uniform thickness. It also provides superior tone quality and durability. The Absolute Series features 6-ply tom shells and 7-ply bass drum shells that produce a warm, full tone sound with excellent sustain.

Floating Bass Drum System (18" only)
Height adjustment on the pedal side of the bass drum is possible with the pipe post stabilizer. Use of this system ensures that the beater makes contact at the center of the head. The stabilizer fits into a pipe clamp on the underside of the drum that allows quick and easy adjustment of the height. The post is equipped with a memory clamp that ensures subsequent settings will be quick and precise every time.

Nouveau Lug
Absolute Lug

Choice of two lugs: Nouveau or Absolute
The Absolute Series offers a choice of two different lug types. The revolutionary, quick-release Nouveau lugs are minimal-contact casings that fix to the drum shell by snapping onto a post that is anchored at the nodal point. This allows the drum to vibrate freely and enable heads to be changed in less time and reduce the risk of losing tension rods or washers. A special nylon insert prevents tension rods from becoming loose during play.

Alternatively, the Absolute lug is a small chrome lug with small footprints and single-bolt attachment that minimizes surface contact and maximizes shell resonance and sustain. A nylon insert holds tension rods in place under heavy play.

Aluminium Die Cast Hoops
The aluminum die cast hoops give these drums the benefit of accurate tuning that die cast hoops are known for. They are also much lighter than zinc so they do not choke the drum like zinc die cast hoops. They allow the drum to open up much like a triple-flanged hoop.

Bass Drum Spurs
A sturdy hexagonal design and fixed angle position allow our spurs to withstand the punishment of even the heaviest bass drum foot. Height adjustment and the releasing and retracting of the pointed spur are made easily with a drum key.

Y.E.S.S. Mounting System
Long found on our high-end drum kits our original YESS (Yamaha Enhanced Sustain System) mounting system is on all toms and floor toms. This rod clamp system allows attachment of the drum to the tom holder without the need of a hole in the drum shell for the rod to pass through. The YESS clamp is attached to the shell at the nodal point with two bolts so as to allow the shell to vibrate freely without degrading the shell's dynamic range and sustain. The nodal point is the location on a shell with the least amount of vibration allowing for the mount to have minimal affect to the resonance of the shell

Ball clamp & Triple tom holder
This round ball clamp has long been a fundamental part of Yamaha System Drums. Made of super-hard resin, the ball is held firmly in place with a steel plate and large wing bolt. While providing ease of operation, this system also delivers total freedom in setting and superior stability.

The triple tom holder accommodates two toms as well as a cymbal holder to provide a wide variety of set up possibilities

UV Finishes
The Absolute Series are available in a choice of over 30 different colour finishes, including cured UV finishes unique to Yamaha. Designed to prevent discoloration and retain their luster indefinitely, Yamaha’s UV finishes offer depth, contrast and brilliance that set them apart from other drum finishes. In particular, Yamaha has developed stunning glitter sparkles and textural topcoats that previously had to be applied as plastic coverings.
